Als der Simton-Musikverlag in Dachau bei München als volkstümlicher Blasmusikverlag vor 35 Jahren gegründet wurde, gab man ihm damals kaum Chancen. Nur der Geschäftsführer unseres Verlages, Waldemar Simon, der vorher mit seinen Produktionen mit der Original Donauschwäbischen Blasmusik Augustin erste Erfolge hatte - einige von Ihnen werden sich bestimmt noch an die viel gespielten Titel „Zwei weiße Rosen", „Veilchenblaue Augen", „Leuchte, silberner Mond" erinnern - glaubte fest daran, den Simton-Musikverlag zu einem bedeutenden Verlag zu machen.
Rückblickend können wir heute sagen, daß sich seine unermüdliche Arbeit gelohnt hat. Der Simton-Musikverlag gehört zur Spitzengruppe der volkstümlichen Verlage - nicht zuletzt durch sein Gespür für schöne, volksnahe Melodien, die alle auf Tonträger produziert wurden.
Als Texter und Komponist brachte Waldemar Simon eigene, positive Erfahrungen mit hinein, in dem es ihm gelungen war volkstümliche Hits, wie „Der alte Scherenschleifer und sein treuer Hund" (Hans u. Ellen Kollmannsberger) und
.,Golden schimmern meine Berge" (Hans/ Krönauer) zu schreiben.
